Eva Galzerano portrait

My name is Eva Galzerano

I am a psychologist and psychotherapist specialised in cognitive-behavioural therapy for Italians living abroad

Welcome. I am an occupational psychologist and a psychotherapist specialised in cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), but above all I am an Italian professional who lives and works in London.

Since 2001, I have supported individuals on personal growth journeys, with particular focus on Italians living overseas. I understand the challenges of cultural adjustment, homesickness, and the identity-related difficulties that can arise from living far from home.

Speaking in Italian allows emotions to be expressed in their most authentic form. One’s native language removes the “filter” of a second language, creating a space where you can truly feel understood.

I see clients at my practice in Twickenham, in the heart of South West London, and I also offer online therapy through a secure and confidential platform, allowing me to support you wherever you are.

My approach combines the scientific rigour of CBT — considered the gold standard for anxiety and mood disorders — with deeply human, empathetic listening. Cognitive-behavioural therapy is evidence-based and goal-oriented, providing practical and concrete tools to help you manage everyday difficulties.

I will guide you towards a renewed sense of calm and confidence in yourself.

Qualifications and Registrations

I am registered as an Occupational Psychologist with the HCPC (UK) under number PYL36628 since 2018, and I have been a member of the Lazio Order of Psychologists (No. 15324) since 2004. Member of The British Psychological Society, No. 423526 since 2026. My qualifications were recognised by UK NARIC in 2016. I obtained my postgraduate diploma in Cognitive Psychotherapy from SPIM (Rome) in 2015.

Tailored therapeutic pathways

Each therapeutic journey is designed around your specific needs, offering practical tools and professional support

Anxiety and panic attacks

Do you often feel short of breath, on edge, or unable to quiet your mind? Through CBT, we work together to identify the “trap” thoughts that maintain anxiety and to break the vicious cycle, helping you regain a sense of control and calm in everyday life.

Depression and mood disorders

Do you feel drained, empty, or as though you’ve lost pleasure in things that once made you feel good? Cognitive-behavioural therapy helps you restore motivation and emotional balance by addressing the negative thought patterns that fuel depression and gradually rebuilding well-being.

Expatriate stress

Living in London can be exciting but also demanding. Do you experience feelings of uprootedness, homesickness, or loneliness even when surrounded by people? I specifically address distress related to cultural adjustment, identity challenges, and the sense of not fully belonging in a new environment. Speaking in Italian creates a space where you can truly feel at home.

Obsessive compulsive disorder (DOC)

Are intrusive thoughts overwhelming you, and do rituals dictate your daily routine? Specialised CBT treatment for OCD guides you through a gradual process to recognise obsessions, reduce compulsions, and regain freedom in your everyday life.

Relationship and couples difficulties

Are misunderstandings or silence creating distance between you and your partner? I offer a neutral, non-judgemental space to improve communication, manage conflict, and rediscover lost emotional intimacy. I work both with couples and with individuals experiencing relational difficulties.

Personal growth and low self-esteem

Do you feel unable to express your full potential or find yourself stuck when facing important decisions? We work together to strengthen your self-efficacy and personal confidence, addressing insecurities, fear of judgement, and limiting mental patterns that prevent you from living fully.

Music therapy

In selected cases, I integrate verbal therapy with music therapy sessions. Music provides a powerful channel for expressing emotions that can be difficult to put into words, facilitating relaxation and emotional exploration in a way that complements CBT work.

My approach

A scientific method in the service of your well-being

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Structure (CBT)

Why Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based approach that focuses on the present. As a first-line treatment for anxiety and mood disorders, CBT concentrates on the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.

Together, we will identify the dysfunctional thought patterns that maintain distress and develop concrete strategies to change them. CBT is not just about “talking through problems”: it provides practical, immediately applicable tools that you can use in everyday life.

CBT is goal-oriented and highly personalised. There is no standard pathway: we work together to create a plan tailored to your needs, your pace, and your personal goals. Progress is monitored continuously, and the approach is adapted when needed, because your growth is always at the centre of the work.

Speaking italian makes the difference

Language is more than a tool: it is home, emotion, and identity. Speaking in Italian allows you to express thoughts and experiences in a more authentic and profound way.

For those living abroad, having therapy in their native language creates a protected space where they can speak freely, without the “filter” of a second language. Emotions flow more naturally, nuances are captured more accurately, and a stronger sense of safety develops.

It is not simply a matter of convenience; it is about accessing a part of yourself that inevitably remains more restrained in a foreign language. It is about feeling truly and deeply understood.

How it works

Three simple steps to begin your journey towards well-being

1

Free initial online consultation

Free initial consultation (20 minutes)
We meet in a 20–30 minute video call to get to know each other. You can share what brings you here, I explain how I work, and we address your questions together. There is no obligation: this is simply a space to see whether we feel we can work well together.
2

Start therapy

Beginning the therapeutic journey
If you decide to continue, we schedule the first full 50-minute session. Together, we define the goals of the therapy and agree on the most suitable frequency (usually weekly or fortnightly). You can choose between online sessions or in-person appointments at my practice in Twickenham.
3

Growth and results

A personalised pathway with practical tools
During sessions, we work together using evidence-based CBT tools. We monitor progress, acknowledge achievements, and adjust the pathway whenever needed. The average duration is 8–20 sessions. The goal is to equip you with practical strategies that remain yours even after therapy has ended.

The trust of my clients is my most valuable achievement

I spent almost a year in London, where Dr Galzerano served as my psychotherapist. Even though the sessions ere held remotely I had a great experience. Thanks to her gentle competent and professional support, I was finally able to embark on a journey to better myself after years of refusal. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs qualified support and an empathetic, caring presence.

Dr Galzerano helped me regain the confidence and self-assurance I had long lost. Although it’s never been easy for me to talk about my emotions, Eva managed to help me analyse, address and resolve my issues with professionalism, discretion, and sensitivity. Her willingness to continue our sessions via Zoom was also crucial.

Alessandro J.

I highly recommend her. Flexible, professional, and cheerful, she helped me a lot in just 6 months! Highly recommended – great experience with Eva!

Marisa G.

Dr Galzerano helped me through a difficult time, offering guidance to better understand myself and take better care of myself. The music therapy sessions we had together were a pleasant discovery and accompanied my growth throughout therapy.

Answers to the most common questions to help you get started with confidence

Eva Galzerano

How much does a session cost?

An individual 50-minute session costs £90. Couples therapy (90 minutes) costs £140. The first 20-minute introductory consultation is always free and takes place online: we meet without obligation and assess together whether to continue. Sessions are tax-deductible in Italy.

Is online therapy really effective?

Yes. Numerous scientific studies show that online therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy, especially for anxiety and mood disorders. Many people prefer it because of flexible scheduling and the comfort of being in their own home. I use a secure platform (Zoom with end-to-end encryption) that ensures maximum confidentiality.

Why choose an Italian psychologist?

In our native language, we access emotions in a more direct and authentic way. For those living abroad, speaking Italian in therapy removes the “filter” of a second language and creates a space where you can fully express yourself. In addition, I deeply understand the specific challenges of expatriate life: cultural adjustment, homesickness, and identity difficulties.

Where is the practice located and how do I book?

I see clients at my practice in Twickenham (9 Lisbon Avenue, TW2 5HR, London), easily accessible from Twickenham Station or St Margaret’s Station. I also offer online therapy wherever you are. To book the free 20-minute consultation, please contact me by email (info@evagalzerano.com) or via WhatsApp (+44 755 34 94855).

Do you have qualifications recognised in the United Kingdom?

Yes. I have been registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) under number PYL36628 since 2018. I have also been a member of the Lazio Order of Psychologists (No. 15324) since 2004. My qualifications were recognised by UK NARIC in 2016.

How is privacy guaranteed?

Confidentiality is paramount. I strictly adhere to the professional code of ethics for psychologists and to GDPR regulations (UK and Italy). Online sessions use secure platforms with end-to-end encryption. No sensitive data is shared with third parties. Everything we discuss remains strictly confidential.

What happens during the first free consultation?

The first consultation lasts 20–30 minutes and takes place online. It’s an opportunity for us to get to know each other: you briefly share what brings you here, I explain how I work, and together we assess whether to continue. There is no obligation. If you decide to begin the therapy, we schedule the first full 50-minute session.
